Recycled Art Journals with The Aquarius House
Yes, we do teach bookbinding techniques!
In this one-day workshop students will learn bookmaking basics and create 5 art journals from recycled prints. Soak up some summer sun in Signal Return’s bright new studio space and have some fun learning the book arts techniques or refining your letterpress skills.
Using a method of overprinting on test prints, we’ll create covers for our books on the printing press. While the covers dry, we’ll create simple pamphlet books with stapled signatures, sewn signatures, and special folds to create pockets. Participants are encouraged to mix it up and get creative with their own style! We’ll add the covers when dry, and each person will walk away with 5 unique books to gift or keep. (Overprints and test prints may vary from examples in images).
Cost of workshop includes materials, instruction by S-R staff and takeaway prints. Paper in this workshop is from French Paper Company, a small Michigan Paper Mill around for more than 140 years.
